Erika grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and began training in tap, jazz, and ballet at the age of 3 At age 12, she joined a semi-professional ballet company, the Schaumburg Dance Ensemble, and danced with them for seven years as a corps de ballet dancer. Dancing alongside professionals inspired her to take dance as an art form seriously, and so she begun training at the Northwest Ballet Academy at age 15 with focus on Cecchetti method ballet and Giordano jazz. She attended college at Ball State University located in Muncie, Indiana beginning in 2009. There her dance focus shifted towards modern and Pilates technique based on Laban and Bartenieff fundamentals. The program focused strongly on developing a personal artistry and relating dance to everyday life; Erika carries this into her teaching styles. She graduated in 2013 with a Bachelors in General Studies and three minors in Performance Dance, Fashion Construction, and Entrepreneurship. She relocated to Davis, CA in 2013 with her husband and has been teaching dance since.
